A quick update

Hi. Justa a quick update today.

While my brother Bj process our application for PCSO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Dr. Acampado her neuro said he will treat Mama’s tremors while still admitted and therapy will still be ongoing.

Mama’s tremors will be treated like parkinsons. The neuro said if it is parkinsons she will respond to meds if not, he calls it “malas” (“unfortunate”) because she has to live with it.

Her psychiatrist increased the dosage of her medicine Abilify to 10mg for her confusion and lack of sleep. Now that it has increased the problem is she is oversleeping. It is hard to feed her and have her drink her meds because if sleepiness. Hope they get the dose just right for her needs.

I pray to God that all will be well according to His perfect plan. And all things will work for good.

Continue to pray for us. We are still raising funds to pay for her hospital needa and even her meds. Thank you.

Cutdown Complication

Added to her pains was her V.Cutdown complication.

As explained by the sergery department, her cutdown leaked because of her edema, The water in the edema leaked in the wound and she was soaked for quite a while. The soaked affected the skin to have blisters and irritations.

The pain made her more anxious that she almost lost herself during this journey.

I cried to the Lord every day every night because I really don't know what to do during this times.

Confused, Disoriented, Anxious Mama :(

After a few days of operation, the drains in her head is still there to make sure no fluid is left in her brain.

During this time at a regular room we noticed that she is not herself. she is confused, disoriented, cannot find the right words to say, cannot complete a sentence that has sense, she also have hallucinations.

Her psychiatrist now has to do something.Dr. Arellano gave back her meds Abilify and Exulten.

Maybe the pains made her so depressed and anxious.

We realy pray that the Lord will give her back herself. Her quality of life.

After Surgery (Post OP Burr Hole)

After the surgery my mom was sent back to ICU for 24 hours monitoring and on time medications.
She also had a Venous Cutdown during the surgery because her Main IV lines can't handle all the meds coming in.

Venous cutdown is an emergency procedure in which the vein is exposed surgically and then a cannula is inserted into the vein under direct vision. It is used to get vascular access in trauma and hypovolemic shock patients when peripheral cannulation is difficult or impossible. The saphenous vein is most commonly used.

In the ICU she recovered well. After a day we are able to talk to her and converse to her well. She had a lot of cravings like Halo-Halo, Puto, Ponkan, Palabok, Gatorade, Yakult, etc...

This good smile lasted for a couple of days. We'd thought this will last until he was transferred from ICU to a regular room.

BURR HOLING

Finally, they cleared mama and she's ready for the procedure.

They needed to transfuse 4 bags of FFP or Fresh Frozen Plasma to make sure her ITP will not affect the surgery.

Transporting to the OPERATING ROOM

Then I waited outside the OR for about 2-4 hours. Then she is transferred back to the ICU after the procedure.

The day she was transferred to ICU

It was just a regular day waiting for all her doctors to clear her for operation. A few days before today there are may blood tests and scans to make sure all is well. A day before yesterday she was still talking and wanting to clean the blinds beside her but she has signs of confusion already ...

But today we noticed that she is not responding to any of our voices even her grand daughter (Iyah)'s voice. The doctor then immediately transfered her to the ICU for close monitoring and additional IV Meds.

In the ICU she needed a direct tube in her lungs to help her breathe and an NGT so she can be fed.

Her admission at Perpetual Help Dalta Medical Center

At Room 404-A
She was finally admitted. They are just making sure her brain is not swelling. Gave her IV medications to decompress her brain from pressure cause by the bleeding.

They refered her to a hematologist (Dr. Relos) to check if she can undergo surgery called BURR HOLING to help the brain go back to it's normal shape and avoid further brain damage. Her ITP is a factor to consider if she'll be able to handle the surgery. We need to get medical clearance from her Surgeon (Dr. Colasito), her Cardio (Dr. Sandoval) and her Neuro (Dr. Acampado).

Me (ayete or Harriet Carino) watching over her

Here I am waiting patiently for her operation clearances. Praying to God for guidance and financial support. The doctors said it will cost us Php200,000.00 or $3946.00 for the surgery.

The Lord have mercy! Amen.

The day we went to ER

Mama had difficulty moving and she always sleeps. We didn't know that it was not her anxiety attack but a much worse case "SUBDURAL HEMATOMA".

We rushed her to the ER (Perpetual Help Dalta Medical Center - Las Pinas City). Because she is heavy built my brother BJ and my husband Volt has a hard time carrying her in the car. But the Lord blessed them with strength to do it.

SUBDURAL HEMATOMA

The doctors advise her to be admitted for further tests. CT Scan, and blood works as she is also suffering from a desease called ITP or Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is a bleeding disorder in which the immune system destroys platelets, which are necessary for normal blood clotting. People with the disease have too few platelets in the blood. ITP is sometimes called immune thrombocytopenic purpura or simply, immune thrombocytopenia.
